It's hard to believe that sweet little Kyron Horman is still missing two years after he disappeared from his school. Terri Horman, his step-mom, dropped him off at school, took a photo of him and without a trace, Kyron was never seen again.
I reviewed Terri and Kaine Horman at the time. You can read my thoughts here. Looking back at it now, I can't help but wonder if Terri helped Kaine write what he said that day in the media. I suspect she did and I suspect the odd words I picked up on were from Terri's influence. Who thinks of "memories" so soon after a child is missing? Who thanks people before their child is found? Are these things what Terri suggested Kaine do? I'd love to know...

In the video, Desiree is asked if she still holds out hope that Kyron is alive. She thinks for a second, shakes her head no, and then says, "I will until the day I die."
You just want to hug Desiree and make it all better. If only we could...

There is a new woman of interest in the disappearance of Kyron Horman. Her name is DeDe Spicher. She has been in close contact with Terri Horman since Kyron's disappeared and news reports are saying that Spicher is telling people not to cooperate. Apparently, Spicher has been giving Terri Horman support and advice since Kyron went missing.

We get our first look at Michael Cook in this video, though I can't say much except that I get a sense that he is an easy-going, laid back guy. If Terri flirted him, he probably was lured in by it, sadly. You have to wonder did Terri make Michael feel sorry for her?
I found the statement made by the retired investigator interesting. He said, "If Terri Horman is the girl next door, you live in a pretty creepy neighborhood."

Kyron Horman's parents share details about their son, the search and Terri Moulton Horman
A reporter asks Kaine Horman and Desiree Young, missing boy and biological parents to Kyron, if there were red flags with Terri Horman, Kaine's second wife, and they both respond yes.
Desiree Young tells us that when she talked to Terri the day Kyron went missing, things didn't seem right to her. She had a motherly intuition that something was wrong.
Kaine said, "In the natural course of actions, she (Terri) was separating herself. I don't think it was purposefully, but it was just apparent..."
Desiree says, "This is the stuff you write in novels. This is not our life. It's just a little boy. I just don't understand it."
I think Desiree is distancing herself from Kyron because she refers to Kyron as, "It's just a little boy." It doesn't flag me in any way with deception. It just clues me in how she is coping with this nightmare.
The reporter asks Desiree what is was like when Terri was hugging both of them in the first presser, when she had these suspicions, and Desiree replies, "Extremely frustrating, um, its hard for me because I am not really a fake person. What you see is...I wear my emotions and I don't have a face I put on for other people... It's extremely difficult to stand next to somebody you know is lying about your son and where he is."
I personally do not believe that Kaine was suspicious of Terri during the first press conference (which I wasn't sure of at that time). I think it took him more time to come around, but that would absolutely be expected. He was much more emotionally invested in "his family unit".
Several people have commented that Kaine is not very emotional. It doesn't strike me as unusual for "him". I do think he has been through the war with all that is going on, and he has found his rock in Desiree, his ex-wife, who is there for him and supporting him. I suspect both Desiree and Tony Young have been kind to Kaine, which is amazing. Many ex-wives would resent their ex-husband for putting them in this position, but Desiree seems to have a compassionate and kind heart. Kaine is lucky for that. He has a compassionate shoulder to lean on.

I asked Steve Kardian, a 30 year police sergeant, chief investigator and news correspondent what his thoughts are on the Kyron Horman case, since Desiree Young, Kyron's biological mother, came forward saying Kyron is alive earlier this week.

Back in the early stages of the Caylee Anthony investigation, I spoke on CNN's Prime News with Mike Galanos. Mike asked me if I thought there was any chance of finding Caylee alive. I responded "No Mike, I believe she's dead!" I'm sad to say that in this case the probability that Kyron is going to be found alive is slim to none. In law enforcement we look at a number of things.
1. The 72 hour critical period has long passed. The more hours and days that pass give less positive hope.2. Stereotypical stranger abductions are extremely rare. Less than 1/2 of 1 % of all childhood abductions that occur in the USA are stranger abductions.
3. In LE we look closely at those close to the child and we look even closer at the people that were last seen with the child.
4. Then there are so many indicators: her cell phone pings, the two lie detector tests, her reaction and body language, the divorce, the just cause for the order of protection. LE typically "WILL NOT" share information of their investigative findings with family members, however, they may, if just cause is present, inform a person (s) that they "may" be in danger!

Desiree Young pleas for Kyron Horman's return today on Oregon's Fox 12. You can watch it here. Desiree says:
Kyron is still alive. We would like all of you, everyone, to continue to get his face out there, to continue looking for him in your day-to-day activities. We pray each day for Kyron. We are working with investigators daily to bring Kyron home. We are extremely confident in how the investigation is going to bring him home to us. We implore Terri Horman to fully cooperate with the investigators to bring Kyron home.
You have to wonder if the police have recently found some evidence that Kyron may indeed still be alive. Desiree's emotions are sure supportive of being overwhelmed by some "new" news.
Let's hope they bring Kyron home and that Terri cooperates once and for all!

Missing Kyron Horman, Skyline Elementary School, June 4, 2010
The press conference by the parents of Kyron Horman was rather strange today. According to the Williamette Weekly, they set ground rules and one of them was that no cameras were allowed, with one exception given to ABC news.

Kyron Horman's biological parents, Desiree Young and Kaine Horman, did the media rounds today hitting all the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX). They answered questions by the media about his disappearance on June 4, 2010. This is the first time Kyron's biological mother, Desiree Young, has spoken.
I do not see any hot spots in these videos or things that clue me in anything substantial, unfortunately. I was surprised to see Kaine say that his wife, Terri, is working passionately to bring Kyron home, like the rest of the family, at which point, in one of the interviews, Desiree, nodded her head in agreement and says yes. I don't quite know what to make of it. It could have meaning, or they could have been asked to keep pressure off of Terri in the media, because they don't talk or deny that she has been looked at as a person of interest. So, at this point, I can't put anything into it.

I am so soooooo sorry that this has happened. I am sorry that I was not there to protect you. I will never be able to forgive myself for being so many hours away when you needed me the most. I pray that you come back to me because I am afraid that I can’t live without you. I miss you every second of every day. I would give my life for yours, I just want you back safe. You must come back to us. We have so many things that we have planned this summer that you are going to love. Quinn loves you so much and wants you home too. All of the family is here and wants you to know just how much they miss you. Mayson is terribly sad without his best friend to play with and wants you home soon.
When you come home I will show you all of the things that everyone did for you, just to find you. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people that don’t know you and yet they pray for you every night. They know how much I miss you and need you and they just want to bring you home to me. There are so many wonderful people working on this case and they are going to find you soon.
I would give anything to run my fingers through your short hair again. I miss having you to hug anytime I want. Nighttime is always hard for me. I miss you so much and want you back here so that I can protect you from all of the horrible things in this world. I just can’t believe that you aren’t still with us. Your life has been really great and I know that it is [not] done yet. A long time ago you saved my life and now I am going to do the same for you. Our lives will never be the same after this.

KGW Video of the Horman Family at a Press Conference Kyron Horman disappeared from school June 4, 2010 after his mother dropped him off and helped him with his science project
Kyron Horman's father finally spoke out today. If you are not familiar with the story, I posted about it here earlier and explain the details of this case.
In the beginning of the video, when I watch Kyron's stepmother and father, I immediately noted a resignation about them. Perhaps it is the way they bow their heads and do not look at the camera. Or perhaps it is their slumped over shoulders. Why have they given up so soon on finding their son? This concerns me. Parents of missing children hope for months and years that just maybe they will find their missing child...and often never give up. I've never seen parents of missing children give up in the first week. Why are Terri and Kaine?

While Tony is down and concerned, he still shows us hope, though I can't articulate why I feel this. Desiree Young, Kyron's biological mother, also shows hope. There is a distinct difference in behavior between the two couples. Do you see it? I wish I could articulate it better.
As the interview progresses, look at the way that Terri buries her head into Desiree shoulder in the middle of Tony Young (the stepfather's) speech. It's as if she's almost wanting to hide or recluse when Tony speaks. You know when little kids get embarrassed, they do this behavior. Why does Terri want to hide? It's very notable.
When I look at Terri to discern her personality, I question if she is super shy, but I don't get a feeling she is. We know for a fact that she helps out at Kyron's school, which confirms she is not the reclusive type. Furthermore, when she walked out of the gym this week and avoided the media, her body language did not support she was a shy, reclusive run-away type of a woman. So what is causing her to want to recluse here? It's intense. Terri appears very needy, too, as she keeps gravitating to everyone around her.
At one point, it even looks like Terri she can't cope anymore. Her body language conveys the message of "I can't take it anymore" (around 1:22). She lifts her hand towards her chest. Watch her react when Tony says, "...the community as a whole has shown how much impact one little boy's smile can have on a community."
Also at the very beginning of the tape when Tony starts speaking, Terri turns her head away from Tony sharply--as if to get away from what he is saying.
Watch how Terri looks up at Desiree while she has her arms around Desiree-- right before Kaine speaks. Its very odd. It's like she is hanging on Desiree for support and approval. Its like she is trying to comfort herself here instead of Desiree. Isn't that odd? Notice how Desiree doesn't reciprocate the embrace?
When Kaine starts speaking, watch Terri rub her arm --a gesture to comfort herself. She does this a couple of times. Terri also takes deep breaths and is doing all she can just to stand there. Her arms are pressed tight on her body in a very closed off manner.
Both Terri and Kaine are exceptionally nervous. Watch Kaine's hands tremble as he holds the paper from which he reads. Why on earth would they be nervous? I could understand talking to the media will make anyone nervous, but the nervousness that both Terri and Kaine are feeling far exceeds what everyone else in this press conference are displaying. That is notable. Kaine may be picking up on Terri's nerves. That is possible. Kaine says, "Your memories and statements can help us find Kyron."
Memories?
That's an odd word choice. It's not common that memories and statements find missing children. Why would Kaine be thinking about "memories"? You would think that word would be the most removed from his thoughts right now -- consciously and subconsciously. I would expect him to use "remember" instead.
Yes, it is important for people to remember relevant information so why isn't he asking people to think back and recollect anything they can--that any and all details may have relevance, no matter how small they are. Why isn't he asking students, parents and teachers to try to recollect if there was any strangers outside the building, any strange cars--anything that might help solve this mystery! Neither parent suggest that people do a thing to help bring Kyron home. More sad to me is that neither of his parents, or biological parents spoke directly to Kyron, in case he was kidnapped and out there. Only his step-father did.
Kaine continues, "We will never be able to thank you enough for that help." Who would think about thanking people before your son is found? It's out of place. It doesn't make sense. It's the cart before the horse, frankly. Would you feel like thanking people when your child is still missing?? What is more important -- keeping the search going or thanking people?
At this point, all signs are pointing that fact that Terri likely knows something, maybe even Kaine, that they are not sharing... They have definitely raised my eyebrows... I wish I could ask them direct questions. That would give me an immediate answer. I am highly suspicious of Terri right now, that is for sure.

------------ After I walked away from publishing this, I realized what is missing the most. It's anger. These parents (Terri and Kaine) should be outraged that their child was safe at school and the school did not protect him! I would expect the parents to be very outspoken about this, because if Kyron was abducted or was able to walk out of school without anyone seeing him -- that's a big concern for ALL parents and children alike. I would be so furious, you couldn't get me to contain it. I would be all over the news asking for answers from the school board. I wouldn't be thanking a damn soul!!
----- Saturday, June 12 CLARIFICATION:
I need to clarify is that Terri's behaviors in this video are NOT CONSISTENT with what we currently know in the news right now, if this is the story she is representing. If we get more information at another point, it may justify her behavior. That is all I can say at this point. To me, at this time, her behaviors are notable red flags. I cannot say that she is lying per say, but her body language is flagging me.
