How do you know if someone is lying?
  by Eyes at 3:33 PM

Did you laugh?  The only way to know if someone is lying is to watch and listen for inconsistencies.  It's that plain and simple, folks.  Inconsistencies, however, come in many forms from words spoken to inappropriate behavior, emotion and expressions.

Read more of Eyes for Lies blogs to learn the clues of how to spot a liar from one of the most knowledgeable resources on the Internet.

Quinn Gray's Abduction on Dateline NBC
  by Eyes at 12:22 PM

If you didn't see Saturday night's Dateline, you missed a whopper of a story.  It was two-hours of action, deception and lies.  I would have to say this was one of the most hotspot littered cases I think I've ever watched.  Quinn Gray couldn't have been a better subject!

For those of you who saw the show, here is Quinn Gray's ransom note

So many hot spots:

  1. Notice Quinn's normal bubbly written text? When people are held at gunpoint, they get nervous and nervous hand writing isn't so sweet and smooth! Hello.

  2. Quinn writes, "I need you read this and be calm!!" Who under duress is going to think like this?   Just be calm, honey!

  3. Quinn writes, "...do not be a hero." Hero? Who would think about heroes when you have a gun pointing to your head?

  4. Quinn writes, "This is professional." What victim of a crime is ever going to think her abductors are "professional"?  I could see law enforcement calling someone professional, but not a victim unless they were talking about a crime in hindsight--not during the actual crime. How does she know they are "professional" at this point? She hasn't seen them do anything, if this is real and they just broke into her house. It's ridiculous.

  5. I find it very odd she tells her husband they want $50,000, but he cannot get more than $9,500.00 out of the bank. Had she tried at one point? Would you know this if you were held at gun point? Very odd information for a "victim" to have... She could have called the bank with the kidnappers and asked about how much she could withdrawal, but she makes no mention of it.

  6. Then she says they only have $7,000, which makes it even more perplexing that she should would know about the $9,500 number because why ask if you don't have it?

  7. Her use of the word "stupid" stands out to me as well. When you are facing life and death, and you may not see a loved one again, and I can't imagine you would worry about them doing stupid things. You would worry about their life instead. It's odd to say the least. She doesn't seem worried about him at all, does she?

  8. It's odd how she is so sure she will be fine if he just gets the money. Why would she be so sure? A kidnapper wouldn't give her the time to write that over and over again! Time is of the essence if they are all standing around in her house, mind you.

  9. She writes, "Please do this honey!" Honey? Again, its ridiculous!!
Clearly, by her own word choices, she was not a woman under duress.  Had I found this ransom note, I couldn't help but chuckle!!!! It tells a heck of a lot information, and while you couldn't write it off, I would have been very skeptical.

Word choices tell us so much...

 Steven Powell Arrested for Voyeurism
  by Eyes at 8:59 AM

Steven Powell, the father of Josh Powell whose wife Susan is missing, has been arrested and charged with 14 counts of voyeurism.  Apparently, Steven photographed little girls, apparently neighbors, using the bathroom and bathtub without their knowledge.    He not only took inappropriate photos of little girls, but he was in places where he shouldn't have been. You can read more details here.

Police are also saying that Steven took inappropriate pictures of Susan Powell, too, apparently without her knowledge or consent either.

You have to wonder if Susan Powell somehow found out about these pictures and perhaps made some kind of threat, and that is what ultimately led to her "disappearance".

This is very tragic, but not surprising considering how Steven had no problem coming out and talking to the media about his sexual desires for his daughter-in-law a few weeks back.  He obviously has serious boundary issues with people as well as has a distortion of what is appropriate and what is not.

I feel for the neighbors in this situation and wonder if Josh will also be implicated in this.  If Josh speaks out about this, please let me know.  You'd think he'd want to get out of his dad's house immediately if he didn't know about this as it should make him sick and very concerned for his children (who have been taken into protective custody).  Will he find a new place to live or not?

 Expression of the Day
  by Eyes at 8:38 AM

Here is a great expression of the day pointed out to me by an Eyes for Lies reader.  This is Nicholas Fiumetto's arrest photo.  He was arrested for stealing beer, but things went from bad to worse when he and his friends tried to get away after being caught.  You can read more here.

What expression is Fiumetto making?  Can you identify it?

Murder Suspect Surveys Crime Scene as Investigators Work
  by Eyes at 11:38 AM

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

This is a fascinating video of a murder suspect, who is watching nearby as crime scene investigators do their work at the scene of a double homicide Monday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  A couple out walking their dogs on Monday morning came across the bodies of two young joggers dead in the park--shot execution style in the head.  The two victims were Ethan Nichols, 21, and his girlfriend, Carissa Horton, 18.

A news reporter happened to interview Darren Price at the scene.  When I watch him talk, I find it interesting how he says, “I think it’s real crazy. I bring my kids out here to play. Got to raise the question, is it safe to even walk around this town with people just dying and stuff? It’s not cool.”

Notice the sanitation of situation by the use of the word "dying"?  Most people who come across a double homicide would not say that people are "dying", but people who commit violent crimes often try to sanitize what they've done as well as try to distance themselves the act.  It's a lot easier to say "dying" instead of "murder" when you were the one who committed it.

After the crime, Price drove Nichols car to an apartment complex, where police later found it.  They set up surveillance and watched Price get into the car and drive it off.   Fox 23.com reports that Price later confessed. You can read more here.

Dr. Phil: The Anthony's Part 3
  by Eyes at 9:32 AM

I watched part 3 of Dr. Phil interviewing George and Cindy Anthony yesterday, and it only confirmed my original thoughts on this case.

I do not believe George in any way molested his daughter. I agree with Cindy if he had done it, Casey would have brought it up long before the trial when it would have benefited her to keep her dad away. She also wouldn't have relied as heavily as she did on George to babysit Caylee. I feel for George.

I also never believed that George had an affair with Krystal Holloway. What is so amazing is that both Krystal and Casey have track records of dishonesty, and its amazing people doubt George. He give zero indications of deception about these incidents.

Cindy seems to have convinced herself that she searched for chlorophyll, and I don't buy that, but Cindy is superb at creating an alternate reality when she can't accept the truth, sadly. It's not surprising.

I always said from day one that I did not believe the Anthonys knew what their daughter did, and I still believe that today.

Here are some of my thoughts on this case:

Did George Anthony sexually abuse his daughter (on the stand review)?
Did George Anthony have an affair?

Elisa Baker Plead Guilty to Second Degree Murder
  by Eyes at 11:46 AM

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Elisa Baker plead guilty to second degree murder for the death and dismemberment of her step-daughter, Zahra Baker, this week. She faces up to 18 years in prison when she is sentenced.

Little Zahra Baker came with her father from Australia to North Carolina. She had a tragic life. At the age of 10, she had already faced cancer, an amputation and hearing loss, and people reported they saw her being treated horribly by her step-mom.

Police say Elisa's confessions helped them find Zahra. She told police that Zahra was found unresponsive on September 24, 2010, and while I don't she believe was simply unresponsive, I suspect the date has some relevance because Zahra had not been seen for sometime. Investigators put a call out to the media to try to confirm that last time someone saw Zahra, and according to ABC news above, no one saw her after September 25, 2010.

Zahra Baker was reported missing on October 9, 2010, yet her father claims to have seen her on the Thursday before --October 7, 2010--which is no where near September 24, 2010. He says to ABC's George Stephanopoulos, "It would've been...probably Thursday night and I got up early and went to work..."

Probably???

You can read my entire October 11, 2010 review of Adam Baker here.

It appears from the facts we do have in this case, it is highly unlikely that Zahra was alive on October 7, 2010, and the odds are exceedingly high that Adam was being deceptive.  What do you think?

It appears Adam will not face any criminal charges related to his daughter as police have no evidence of his or anyone else's involvement.

Cindy and George Anthony on Dr. Phil
  by Eyes at 3:06 PM

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Having watched the Anthonys on Dr. Phil, I still stand strong in the opinions I have always had from day one.  I believe that Cindy did not have any inkling about what Casey did to Caylee.  I believe her when she says she thought Casey was keeping Caylee from her because Casey was jealous that she loved Caylee.  I believe Cindy and George that George was not there the morning Caylee was killed or died.

And Dr. Phil sees it like I have said along:  Cindy is in denial. There is no doubt about that. Cindy Anthony clearly has denial problems and was an enabler, but it could be her mechanism of survival. Denial is not always a conscience decision, or willful deception. I wish people could understand this. Is Cindy trying to minimize Casey's behaviors? Absolutely. Is she unable to accept the truth? Absolutely. Is what she says about Casey ridiculous? Absolutely, but does it mean she is purposefully trying to deceive people? No. Cindy is in true clinical denial.

Most people, Cindy included, wouldn't cope knowing they produced a psychopath.

Amy Winehouse's Parents Speak to Anderson
  by Eyes at 11:32 AM

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Amy Winehouse's parents and family spoke on Anderson Cooper's debut show yesterday saying that their daughter died because she was a serious drunk who stopped drinking, and that caused her to have a seizures.

Her dad, Mitch, stood steadfast that no drugs were found in Amy's body at all.  Then he said that she had just one pill of Librium, a drug prescribed to alcoholics to help them withdrawal.

I'm not buying their story.  It seems too convenient for me.  I think there is more to this story than what they want to acknowledge.

When I watched the videos of Amy over the years, she used to be a healthy weight and then in the last few months, her weight plummeted dramatically. She became bone thin.  Alcoholics as a general rule are not anorexic, but drug addicts often are. It's just another clue to what the real story was.

I also found it odd how Amy's dad admitted that when we got the call, before he was told, he knew Amy was dead.  Why would he expect that?  Most alcoholics who quit don't die because of it.  I found this really odd.

And furthermore, if he knew his daughter was having life-threatening seizures, why wouldn't he insist that she be with someone 24/7 and get help?  If he did, you think he'd talk about it.  He never does.

When I look up Librium, this is not a drug you want to mix with alcohol or anything as it can be very dangerous.  I suspect Amy did something other than stop drinking, but will we ever know the truth?  I've seen so many famous people pass where I am suspicious the truth was never revealed.  Will this be another case?

Dr. Drew seems to think along the same lines as I do. Amy Winehouse's parents are in denial about how and why their daughter died, if you asked me.

More Previews of the Anthony with Dr. Phil
  by Eyes at 12:52 PM

Fox news is also reporting that Cindy Anthony is going to say that Casey Anthony had seizure disorder that may have contributed to Caylee's death. I find that ridiculous, but denial makes people say ridiculous stuff!

Check back later this week for my thoughts on this case!

Travis Forbes Admits to Killing Kenia Monge

This will now make 32/33 cases I called correctly before the truth was known.

Travis Forbes Leads Police to Body
  by Eyes at 8:21 PM

Back in April, Kenia Monge disappeared after a night out at a local Denver club.  The last man to see Kenia alive spoke out to the news media claiming he was a suspect, though police did not confirm he was.  That man was Travis Forbes, and the behavior of Travis in that interview told me all I needed to know.  Things did not look good for Kenia.

Sadly, today, Travis Forbes led police to a body along an interstate in Colorado some 40 miles from where Kenia was last seen.  The District Attorney has confirmed that they believe the body is Kenia though testing is need to make it official.

Body language and human behavior are big indicators to deception if one is trained and knows what to look for.  Travis is a great example of how this is true.  I have over 30 real life examples of this on my blog.

 Sandra and Peter Franklin
  by Eyes at 9:46 AM

Did you see 48 Hours this past weekend?  Sandra Franklin claims she killed her husband, Peter, in self-defense.

I personally didn't believe Sandra's story whatsoever.  I suspect she planned the murder, took control of Peter's finances and his life, and wanted him out of the picture.  I believed Peter's ex-wife that Peter was not one to lay a finger on anyone and Sandra's story that he used his key knife to go after her was ridiculous.

Here is what I believe:  Sandra convinced Peter for whatever reason that he should sign over all his assets to her.  She convinced him to go into pain management, so she could cabbage a lot of money, before axing him out of the picture...Creepy, I know.  But that is how I see it.

She got justice with her sentence-- 15 years to life! I wouldn't trust that woman to stand behind me for even a blink of an eye.  She is dangerous from my point of view.
