No DNA link to West Memphis Three
  by Eyes at 9:34 AM

DNA

Newly tested DNA evidence tested in the West Memphis Three case from Arkansas is no match for Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr, who all were convicted of killing three 8-year old cub scouts.  The three boys dubbed The West Memphis three, who were teenagers at the time of the crime, have now served 18 years in prison.

The DNA that was tested recently has excluded the West Memphis Three and has instead identified two unknown males and a hair reveals a third.

The three boys that lost their lives are not to be forgotten.  We need to find their real killers.  They were Stevie Branch, Christopher Byers and Michael Moore.

Things are not looking good for the case against Drew Peterson.  Could this be another Casey Anthony case where the majority of people know from behavior that Peterson is guilty, but he walks?

It doesn't look good.

 Harmless Lies Mount Up
  by Eyes at 3:31 PM

This is a fascinating story with a huge lesson.  Time and time again I hear women who ended up in bad relationships say, "I know he lied, but it was harmless."  When people continually lie, it is one of the biggest warning signals you have that the person you are invested in a relationship, friend or otherwise, values themselves way more than you.  And when a person puts them first, watch out!  You will end up hurt, one way or another.

Lying repeatedly shows a lack of respect by the person who is lying and to the people being lied to. It will never end happily.  And if you stick around, it shows you don't respect yourself either.  You should want more for your life!

It's your number reason to boogie, folks.   I have always had a steadfast rule in personal intimate relationships.  If someone lies to me once, I'll forgive them, if they are sincere and I truly believe their apology.  If they lie to me twice, its over.  It's clear we didn't learn from the first mistake and I am not going to repeat it again.

The only exclusion I have are friends who give me white lies when they cancel things, reschedule or are unable to be honest about their own shortcomings or difficulties, which have no bearing on me or other people.

Lies are not harmless when they continually repeat.  Remember that...

 Rabies Vaccination Records Deceptive?
  by Eyes at 4:22 PM

Wee Westie's Nuclear Ball

Last week, I got a notice in the mail that said my dog was due for her rabies shot. I thought that was odd because we got her shots updated last summer, and I was under the impression it was a three-year shot. I have had some serious questions about my vet's ethics lately, and so before I called, I decided to pull my records to double-check.

When I looked at the Certificate of Vaccination, I was surprised to see the date given and the expiration were only one year apart (not three).  Yet when I read further down, it said that it was a three year vaccine. That was certainly sloppy work at best.

I then decided to call the vet office, and ask when my dog's vaccine was due to see what they would say.  She said, yes, it was due now.

This bothered me.

I told the woman I had the certificate of vaccination and it said three years.  She said she had to check and that whatever my paper said didn't matter--only her records mattered.  She knew I was upset.  She then came back on the line and confirmed that it was a three year vaccinate.

Do vets make documents like this on purpose to make extra money?  If you don't keep records, which a lot of people don't, they can earn a lot of extra money at the expense of our pets. I would bet I am a rarity to check the facts and call on this, at which point the vet can then say, "Oh yeah, its three" without repercussions.

I find this very disappointing.

I've seen several things at this vet lately that concern me and are red flags. One was my name was sold to Frontline and I received advertising from Frontline saying that it was from my vet.  It was clear my name was sold to that company--which disturbed me, too.  Plus, I had another incident that is to complex to write about here.  Three strikes and he's out! Its time for a new vet!!

 Avoiding Deception When Buying Cars
  by Eyes at 12:26 PM

Florida 49

So many people fret buying a car because car salesman have a notorious reputation.  Most people will tell you they can't trust a car salesman, and there is reason. Salesman have a historical and notorious reputation.  Just watch this Dateline NBC clip here.

When you walk into a dealership, the number one thing a salesman is looking for is a trusting individual.  The more trusting you show yourself to be, the more likely you will be targeted as a good candidate for higher pricing. So, you may wonder, how does a trust person act versus a non-trusting person?  Should you question the dealer about everything?

Absolutely not.

The one difference between the two is simple, and comes down to one element:  It's having knowledge--being educated on the product you plan to buy. Are you surprised?

You don't have to have eyes for lies.

If someone is trying to sell you something, the only way someone is going to take advantage of you if is you lack knowledge.  If you are educated on the product you wish to buy and the process of buying (which I am not going to talk about here), who can fool you?

Very few people, let me assure you.  As an expert in deception, I will tell you this is the 101 of buying a car or any product for the matter.

When I buy a car, the first thing I do is research what cars interest me. I learn about them.  I read about the options, features, models and their differences, reliability reports, safety tests, owners complaints for various years, and even recalls.  I want to know what potential problems I might face. Once I have this knowledge, I am ready to go to a dealership to test drive the vehicles I like.  At this point, I know what concerns I need to investigate. All cars have issues, I assure you.

If a salesman tries to tell me that a vehicle I am interest in is perfect, great, etc, I will immediately look at him with concern, and salesman pick up on this.  I also won't hesitate to identify the problems I have found with their cars.  Be prepared, however, they will try to convince you there are no problems, but they are not your source for this information simply because their goal is to sell you a car, so they are never going to tell you information to cause you not to buy a car.  This is the second fundamental of buying cars or any product for the matter.

Which brings me to a third key element.  You don't go to dealers for them to sell you a car.  You go to dealers for them to answer your questions (Can I test drive this/open the trunk, etc.) and for them to assist you to buy a car. There is a key difference.

I think many people will be surprised to see the recalls on cars. It's very unnerving, and when you read owner complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, you often find repeating themes of issues--so you know these are not rare events.  Tip:  Don't read the year you are looking at only -- read back a few.  A good consumer can rule out cars simply on the basis of recalls.

One car manufacturer was on my list of cars to check out until I read their safety recalls, and I saw that they had a catastrophic failure with the cars frame rusting out.  The recall was good to see, but what shattered it for me was they were only recalling cars in the salt belt, where salt is applied to the road.  So if you live in a southern state, and move to a northern state where salt is applied, you could face a major disaster with your car and never know there was an issue. That failure could be life-threatening.  That destroyed my confidence in that manufacturer, even with some of their vehicles getting high reviews.  It speaks of the company behind the vehicle.

I am sad to report that in nearly every visit I make to a dealership, I often find I know more facts about the cars they are selling then they do. Towing capacity is one area that nearly every salesman I asked (at various dealerships) gave me inaccurate information.  When I retorted back that what I researched doesn't jive with what they are telling me, they get notice I am not an easy target and most waffled in their answers at that point--clearly unsure of the answer.  In the same respect, salesman aren't as anxious to work with a tough customer because you aren't an easy sales, but that's okay! Many never even call me when I request data, but I'm not there to make friends. I'll just call another dealer.

Also, if a dealer tells you things--make him back it up.  If he says for example Toyota has fixed the problem, which one dealer told me, tell them to show you the literature that identifies the fix. Then investigate it yourself at another time. Is what the salesman saying true?  Can you find supporting data?  Does it make sense?  Are their a lot of owner complaints after the fix?  Many times you will find recalls do not adequately fix problems, simply because there are plenty of customer complaints that continue about the same issue after recalls. One car I looked at clearly has this issue.

Research. Research.  Research.

Once I settle on the car of my choice, I also don't haggle with a dealer. What's the point?  I want to know what a good price is.  Again, knowledge is key.  There are great websites that track sales data of cars, and show you what the average price paid for the vehicle you are looking at is nationally, regionally and locally. Dealers also say they offer special Internet pricing.  Sign up to receive that, but also visit other dealers in person and call around on the phone (sometimes prices are better in person than on the phone, other times they are better on the Internet than at the dealer).

Learn about holdbacks (profits dealers calculate in to each sales).  Then come up with the price you think is reasonable and you are willing to pay based on solid data, and contact dealers to see who is interested.  Your research of calling around for pricing will give you a high and low point of purchase. Work from that.

I often find by shopping around, prices can vary by as much as 10% or more.  This is an important step and why haggling has no purpose.

And if I had a good salesman along the way, I will always call him with my final purchase price after I have done all of my homework, to see if he can or wants to meet the final price I have come up, and I know I can get elsewhere.  If he can meet it, he can get the sale, but so far that has never happened.  That's his loss, not mine.

Remember, when people sell products, they are in the business to sell, so you must do your homework. They are never going to give you information that will cause you to second guess a purchase. Ever.  Remember that and be educated, knowledge and informed, and you are on your way to getting a good deal!

 Rupert Murdoch
  by Eyes at 1:01 PM

I've watched a little of Rupert Murdoch and his son, James, talk to the parliamentary committee this week.
I find it interesting that they don't answer direct questions asked of them, they don't recall things that they should and they are evasive. This, however, really stood out to me in the segment I watched:
Q202 Mr Watson: Mr Murdoch, why was no one fired in April, when News International finally admitted that News of the World had been engaged in criminal interception of voicemails?

Rupert Murdoch: It was not our job to get in the course of justice. It was up to the police to bring the charges and to carry out their investigation, which we were 100% co-operating with.

Q203 Mr Watson: But in April the company admitted liability for phone hacking, and nobody took responsibility for it then. No one was fired. The company admitted that they had been involved in criminal wrongdoing and no one was fired. Why was that?

Rupert Murdoch: There were people in the company who apparently were guilty. We have to find them and we have to deal with them appropriately.

I find this little snippet in and of itself very telling. Mr. Watson notes that News International admitted the company was engaged in criminal interception of voicemails and yet no one was fired. Murdoch wants people to believe that he and his company had no responsibility outside of cooperating with police. He didn't have any ethical responsibility to fire employees and keep his paper honest?  Wouldn't a legitimate honest businessman make that his top priority?  Murdoch says, "There were people who apparently were guilty. We have to find them." He has to find them?  This is nonsense!

I also find it very interesting how many people are resigning amidst this scandal.  Honest people with nothing to hide do not resign.  All red flags...

Murder Suspect Confesses to Killing 8-year Old Boy
  by Eyes at 2:00 PM

This is a sad story coming out of Brooklyn, New York. An 8-year old boy wanted to walk home from summer camp alone without his mom. They practiced and rehearsed it.  He had to walk 7 blocks.  Sadly, on the first day the boy was to do it by himself, he got lost and asked a stranger for help.  That stranger ended up killing and dismembering him.   What a horrific story!

The confessed killer is Levi Aron, 34, also of Brooklyn.

I find it interesting how Levi says, "I understand this may be wrong and I'm sorry for the hurt that I have caused."

He understands this MAY be wrong?

Wow.

He is under suicide watch until he can undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

 Prince Albert and His Bride
  by Eyes at 9:41 AM

If there was ever a strange pair that wed, it would be these two:  Prince Albert of Monaco and his now wife, Charlene. I have watched several videos of them and there is no expression of love, tenderness or a bond between these two. The are ice cold together--chillingly so. It appears this is a marriage is another purpose.  Some speculate it is to produce a legitimate heir.

A reader asked me if these were tears from a happy or sad bride? I would have to vote sad.  She bows her head as if she wants to escape.  She never looks up and gives us a genuine smile of joy. Instead she works to keep a frown off of her face.  Even Prince Albert was surprised at her tears.  I suspect he knew they weren't from joy either.

I find watching these two very painful.  They aren't fooling anyone. It doesn't takes eyes for lies to see this!

 Josh Powell's Dad Speaks Out
  by Eyes at 12:50 PM

Many people when children do bad things want to blame the parents for the problem saying the apple doesn't fall too far from the cart. In some instances this is true and in others it is not.  In this case, however, it is absolutely true. We can see where Josh Powell gets his absurd ways, without question.

The fact that Josh's dad, Steve Powell, is controlling Susan Powell's diaries from when she was a little girl and plans to post them to prove his theories is outrageous, and the fact he is accusing her of running away with another man when the last known person to see her was his son, is sickening.

I do not believe Steve for an instant that Susan Powell was in any way promiscuous. Nor do I believe she ran away. There was a wet spot in the Powell's living room and Josh dang well knows what happened, if you ask my opinion.  Steve doesn't want to talk about that, does he?

I find it interesting how Steve talks for his son and says, "we".  Why isn't Josh speaking for himself?   Why does his dad feel the need to talk for his son??

This man, in my opinion, is as twisted as his son, sadly.

You can read my opinions of Josh Powell when he first spoke out here.

Travis Forbes Attacks Woman, Tries to Kill her
  by Eyes at 11:11 AM

Back in April of this year, we watched Travis Forbes talk to a local news station about missing 19-year old Kenia Monge. Travis was the last person to see her before her disappearance, yet claimed no involvement. His interview was littered with hotspots and I wrote that I did not believe him. You can read my thoughts here. Sadly, no one has located Kenia Monge.

Yesterday, Travis Forbes was arrested attempted murder, arson and car theft. On June 5, 2011, Lydia Tillman, 30, was badly beaten and rescued from a burning building after jumping out the window.

Media sources have revealed that she was allegedly raped, choked, stomped on her throat, and believed to be dead. The suspect, which is now believed to be Forbes, poured bleach in and on her body, then set her apartment on fire, and stole her car.

There is an eerie connection between the behaviors in this crime to the disappearance of Kenia Monge. When Kenia Monge disappeared, witnesses reported seeing Forbes burn something in a 55-gallon barrel and worse, he was seen using bleach at his place of employment in the middle of the night on security camera and wheeling a large ducted tape cooler out his place of employment.

I was informed by a reader that police searched Travis Forbes dad's house last night with cadaver dogs. I suspect, if this is true, they are looking for Kenia Monge.

What a sad story. I am glad Travis Forbes is off the streets today being held on $350,000 bond.

Kiesha Abrahams: Police Put Together Events
  by Eyes at 12:39 PM

Kiesha Weippeart's mom, Kristi Abrahams, plead for her missing daughter on August 3, 2010.  She wore sunglasses when she made the plea and her cry was riddle with clues it was fake.  I immediately saw red flags and did not trust Kristi Abrahams.  You can read my original post here.

As the story continued to develop in time, there were a lot of things that didn't make sense in this case, and most people saw something was up.  People speculated over the sad face of little Kiesha. Was it letting out a secret that she was sad at home?  Evidently, the answer is yes.   Police are expected to include in their statement against Kiesha's parents that their treatment of their daughter was harsh, and included brutual treatment (source).

Sadly, Kiesha's little bones were found in April of this year and now police in Australia, where this occurred, are working to put the pieces of this puzzle together.

They got a tip in April of this year that on Kiesha's birthday, her parents were going to her grave and that is precisely what they did.  They hired a taxi and lead investigators, unknowingly, to Kiesha's body.

Police suspect that Kristi Abrahams and her partner, Robert Smith, caused harm to the little girl, and believe she died as a result of head injuries.  They then believe once she died, somewhere between July 12-14 of last year, they hired a taxi and took her lifeless body in a suitcase to a bushland grave. A taxi driver remembers the two carrying a suitcase to the bushland.

Kiesha was then reported missing on August 1, 2010.  Both Kristi Abraham and her partner Robert Smith are facing murder charges.

You can read more here, and here.

Do you believe behavior is important evidence?

Breaking News: Thomas Bögerl Commits Suicide
  by Eyes at 1:18 PM

According to an Eyes for Lies reader, and TMNews, Thomas Bögerl, a banker, whose wife was taken for randsom back in May of 2010 and was found dead beside a road not to long after, was also found dead today.  Apparently he committed suicide by hanging.

The Eyes for Lies reader wrote:
Just a quick update on the German Boegerl case that you wrote about in the past. It is just going through the various news outlets over here that today about noon, Thomas Boegerl has been found dead in the fitness room of his home by the housekeeper. It seems that he hanged himself. Police found a suicide letter, but there is no word yet as to its contents.
I went online and found this news article as well. I have translated this for you using Google Translation.
Rome, July 11 (TMNews) - The German banker Thomas Boegerl, widower of Mary Boegerl, committed suicide, hanging himself in his home. He writes on his online version of Germany's Die Bild tabloid, which also confirms the local police. The man's lifeless body was found by the cleaning lady around 12 today.

Boegerl's wife was kidnapped in May 2010 and his body found in early June. His kidnappers and killers have left no trace, and after 14 months on the mystery woman's death remains unsolved.
I was watching this case because the father, Thomas, when he spoke to the media pleading for his wife's return didn't display oblique eyebrows of sadness like his children did, and while it wasn't conclusive of guilt by itself, it was a huge red flag. Thomas had several red flags in his behavior, and now with this suicide, you have to wonder what truly happened.

Update 7-12-2011
I read the news this morning, and apparently Thomas left a suicide note that was to his two children -- it was private say police and won't be released.  It was oddly one sentence and it didn't give any reason or motive.  He was, however, in the care of a treatment facility for depression.  He was struggling to keep his job says one of his co-workers.  He left the treatment facility for the weekend, went home and killed himself.

Anthony Jury Ignored Casey's Defense: Outrageous!
  by Eyes at 11:15 AM

Having listened to Jennifer Ford and her arguments as to why Casey wasn't convicted, I am in shock!  This jury was so boons-waggled with Baez red herrings, they couldn't think straight! I am floored.

Ford, if you want my opinion, is clearly a staunch person with strong opinions.  She truly feels the prosecution had no case whatsoever except to show that Casey Anthony behaved badly.  We hear her give us one of the arguments that convinced this jury to vote to acquit, "If you are going to charge someone with murder, don't you have to know how they killed someone or why they killed someone?"

That's a fascinating question, and if I were on a jury, I would have retorted back equally staunch by saying show me the law that says that no motive, no known cause of death equals acquittal.  To me those elements have no involvement in our decision if Casey Anthony is involved.  Bear with me a minute.

Let's listen to Casey Anthony's defense.  This is paramount!!

We are all in agreement that she hired Jose Baez to give her side of the story, correct?  Her defense, what Casey wants us to believe, is that she was home with her dad when her daughter went into the pool and drowned. She wants us to believe that her dad found Caylee, and that she allowed him to take the body and do an elaborate cover up.  She willfully and intentionally went along with that cover up.  That is what the defense is telling us, correct?

Why would we disbelief this as a starting point? Is there any reason?  While I don't necessarily believe this is the whole truth, this is Casey's story. This is what she is confessing to at a minimum.   This should be the starting point of what she is guilty of...or she wouldn't admit to some involvement, if she had none.

Next, if the prosecution argues that this was first or second degree murder, we can move up from there if we feel the evidence is substantial. I would argue that duct tape on the body supports that this was more than a simple drowning. Now we have Casey admitting involvement, and we have the duct tape found on the body... Where does that leave us?

Is there still reasonable doubt of her involvement?

This jury failed to think critically, to even listen to what Casey Anthony hired her attorney to tell the jurors directly.  How stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fact that the jurors discounted what Casey said, that she admitted through her attorney that she was involved in an accident, is simply mind-blowing!!!!!

 An Alternate Juror Speaks Out
  by Eyes at 10:06 AM

In the video above an alternate juror speaks out. What do you think about his thoughts?

Lisa Daily asked me about what I thought of Casey Anthony's face during the verdict.  Before the verdict was read, Casey gave a blank expression. I think she was still working to keep her emotions in check. When the verdict was read, however, they leaked out involuntarily.  Casey demonstrated a variety of emotions from a micro smiles to sadness (oblique eyebrows).  She shows a release in tension, too.

I do not see her micro smile as a duper's delight in the technical sense that she is leaking out joy that she is believing believed as she is lying.  She isn't saying anything here. Could she proud she got away with murder?  Sure.  Could she be feeling happiness for not being found guilty? Yes.  Could she be happy because this ordeal is finally over?  Absolutely.  Why she is happy we cannot speculate.
